This is the story of how we got here.
I (Juan) won my first camera — a small point and shoot — at Alvarado Intermediate. While my friends were trying to become professional skateboarders, I fell in love with capturing them skating and putting it all together in that old video editor on my family's computer. The one the size of a mini fridge.
When I got to high school, my family supported that hobby and got me a DSLR and a laptop. When I wasn't playing sports myself, I was on the sideline taking photos of my classmates in theirs. That's where I met my mentor — shout out Mr. Seid. He showed me what it looked like to do this seriously.
Every year after I graduated, Coach Jacobson and Mrs. Phillips would call me back to capture the powderpuff game. Then Coach Citos came. He saw what we were already doing and didn't just want coverage for a game — he wanted us for the whole program. That relationship opened the door to everything else. The connections with student athletes led to other sports. Other coaches saw it and wanted the same. One program became many. And here we are.
"These kids deserve to feel like they're competing at the highest level. The media days, the mic'd up moments, the cinematic edits — that's not extra. That's just the standard they deserve."
By Project No. 57 is a husband and wife operation at its core — with a small trusted crew of shooters who step in when the schedule demands it. Every person who represents this brand represents it with the same standard.
We've seen what happens when stories are told the right way. Kids light up seeing themselves recognized. Parents feel reminded of why it all matters. Coaches feel re-energized when the impact is reflected back at them.
We exist to document the moments that define this community — not because we were always hired to, but because these stories deserve to be told right. The galleries are free to view. The effort behind them is not small. And the reason we keep showing up has never changed.
That's not a tagline. That's just why we're here.
Whether you're a coach, a program, a family, or a local business — we'd love to talk about how By Project No. 57 can show up for you.
